Today’s object is the right maxillary bone of the extinct harelip sucker (Lagochila lacera).  It was scanned by the Virtual Curation Laboratory as part of a collaborative research project with Bruce Manzano of the University of Kentucky and Christopher Begley of Transylvania University and will be presented as a research poster at the 2014 International Council for Archaeozoology (ICAZ) conference in Argentina.  The research poster is entitled “Digital Scanned 3-D Reproduced Elements of Extinct Species; The Future Examines the Past”, and is authored by Bruce L. Manzano, Bernard K. Means, Mariana Zechini, and Christopher Begley. Mariana Zechini is the Digital Zooarchaeologist for the Virtual Curation Laboratory. This animation was created by Digital Curation Specialist Rachael Hulvey.
