Membranophones

Category of musical instruments in which the generator of sound is a vibrating skin or membrane.  This includes classifying them by what is causing the membrane to generate sound.

Three basic types of membranophones includes:  A) Struck Directly or Indirectly;  B)  Friction; C)  Singing

Membranophone is one of the four main categories in the original Erich von Hornbostel – Curt Sachs scheme of musical instrument classification.
