HABIT

Upright shrub to 2m tall and 1m wide

FEATURES

Unusual, soft-textured, red or orange flowers with blue styles from June to September.

USES

Garden shrub for colour and to support wildlife, especially birds. Can be tip-pruned to keep more compact for soft hedging or screening.

BEST CLIMATE/POSITION

Mediterranean, warm-temperate or cool-temperate climates. It is endemic to dry shrublands and sandy heathlands south of Perth, WA. Tolerates full sun or part shade.

PREFERRED SOIL

Tolerant of most soil types but requires good drainage.

PROPAGATION

Cuttings, grafting, seed.

POTENTIAL PROBLEMS

Likes well-drained soil but should not be allowed to dry out. It will only tolerate mild frosts.
