The Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes will retain control over the towns visitor centre, after two years of negotiation with the local Community Resource Centre.
The CRC had proposed to take over the tourist hub and amalgamate with its own services to the community.
But the local shire last night decided they'll retain the management of the centre, despite higher costs to self-manage the centre.
Shire President Jenny Mountford also revealed to Stan Shaw on ABC South West breakfast council was eyeing a rate rise of between five and ten per cent.
Ms Moutford also works with local tourism group Bridgetown Discovery, which had also made a bid to run the Visitor Centre previously.
She informed the council in writing that Bridgetown Discovery had withdrawn any bids to manage the centre and thus didn't have a conflict of interest.
