What are the benefits of using only handmade soaps for your skin?

Commercial soaps sold in stores are often made with chemical detergents, hardeners and synthetic lathering agents. Some of these ingredients can be drying or irritating on the skin. On the other hand, handmade soaps created with oils, liquid and lye does not contain these harsh ingredients and qualifies as 'soap.

'Why handmade soap is best?

Handmade soap contains glycerine which is a natural byproduct of the soap making process, an excellent moisturiser and also one of the reasons that handmade soap is so good for your skin! Some commercial soaps remove the glycerine from the bars and sell it to make lotions and creams. Without glycerine, commercially prepared soap isn't nearly as skin loving, and can leave the skin feeling dry.

Pure Glycerine

Cold process and hot process soaps

Cold or hot process soap is made with natural oils, such as coconut oil, sunflower oil, olive oil and avocado oil. This combination of oils is what makes each handmade soap  completely unique. The great thing about making and using Abyssinian Beauty soaps is that they are customise  to feel exactly how you like them.

For example, lets imagine you want a soap with a bubbly and stable lather? then you would add some  some castor oil and coconut oil to your soap.

If you prefer a mild, small lather, then you could use  a high percentage of olive oil. In other words, by knowing the properties of different oils, you can customise your soap for your specific skin type.

In addition to choosing soaping oils and butters for your skin, you can further customise your bars with exfoliates, fragrance, colour and more. This is especially important if you prefer to only use natural ingredients. Handmade soap is a great way to use essential oils derived from plants and natural colourants like clay.

Clay (Kaolin, Moroccan Red, French Green, Rose) - cleanses and tones, absorbs dirt, oil, and toxins from the skin, increases lather, and lends natural colors to our soaps

Natural soil clays

Other fun natural ingredients, like milk and purees, can also be added to handmade soap. You won't find those quality ingredients in your bar of store bought soap. This kind of customisation is a beautiful way of expressing yourself, your personality and your values. It's a consumable art form that is fantastic to use, sell or give away as gifts.

Most women try to hide skin blemishes  and uneven tone using makeup. In some cases the make up can end up aggravating the situation due to alleges and irritation to the skin, not to mention the cost and the inconvenience of having to paint your face every time you go out.

Abyssinian beauty products aim to minimize the need for excessive makeup by providing natural skin care products which encourage women to be make up free.

I know at first you'll feel awkward not wearing makeup , but you'll quickly realize most people really don't care. Sure, you'll get some snide remarks from some people when you stop wearing it, but why should you care. Ignore them. Soon, you'll feel more confident knowing you're beautiful with no makeup.

Natural Clays

Clay is one of the most cleansing and detoxifying ingredients you can use on your skin. Rich in minerals, the benefits of clay for skin in helping to clear blemishes, draw out impurities and leave you with a brighter complexion, are unrivalled.

There are many different types of clay: from Rose and Kaolin, to French Green and Red. All of them are to be used when your skin needs a detox, as it is a very purifying ingredient.

What is the right type of clay for my skin type?

These different types of clay contain varying levels of minerals, and therefore work better on different skin types. Using the right one for your needs will ensure you end up with a gorgeous and healthy complexion without any side effects.

Normal Skin

If you have normal skin, you want to make sure your skin remains balanced and well hydrated after treatment, so you need to use a clay that won't strip your skin of moisture.

Kaolin Clay is one of the mildest clays available, as it gently cleanses the skin without removing too much oil and causing sensitivity to the skin. Its mild exfoliant properties help to remove dead skin cells and impurities from the skin, reducing blemishes and imperfections.

Red Clay is brilliant at purifying the complexion and giving it a healthier, more radiant appearance thanks to its high content of Iron Oxide. It's also one of the clays that doesn't dry out your skin too much, making it ideal for congested skin as it can be quite sensitive.

Is Carrot oil good for your face?

Carrot oil infuses moisture and provides essential antioxidants to the skin when applied topically. Both, carrot root carrier oil and carrot seed oil have beneficial properties. Both the oils help in soothing the dry or irritated skin and help in cell-regeneration like soothing wrinkles and stretch marks.

Carrots can protect your skin from the sun's rays. The beta carotene in carrots is a skin-friendly nutrient that gets converted to vitamin A inside the body. It helps repair skin tissues while also protecting skin from harmful radiation.

Hair care

Many mineral based oils are often heavy in consistency, and made from cheap ingredients that would do nothing for the health of your hair.

At Abyssinian Beauty Cosmetics, we provide you with naturally blended hair oils that are free from synthetic chemical additives, Our hair oils and butter creams are rich in the vitamins, fatty acids  and proteins that are easily absorbed by your hair.

Ranging from pure natural oils that can be used on other parts of your body, oils made from sustainably sourced super fruits that contain magical qualities, and oils that can be used with other products to create a super intensive deep treatment - there is a wide range of choice out there.

Types of Oils

Castor oil - It's one of the go-to oils for Afro-textured hair types. It helps to combat dryness and adds moisture to the hair. It's also known to strengthen hair and to stimulate hair growth.

Jojoba oil - Known for being close in molecular size to the natural sebum produced by the scalp, jojoba oil is rapidly absorbed into the skin. Hairstylists consider it to be one of the best sealants as it locks in moisture, resulting in silky lengths without the heavy or weighted feeling some other oils leave behind.
Jojoba oil also protects against breakage and teamed with tea tree, provides antibacterial properties.

Coconut oil - Arguably the most popular natural oil, coconut oil is made up of very small molecules, which are able to slip into the hair shaft and condition hair from the inside out. Coconut oil is good for the scalp and skin to keep it moist. It also consists of vitamins and essential fatty acids, which nourish the scalp and help to remove sebum build-up from hair follicles.

Olive oil - Renowned for its nourishing properties, olive oil relieves dry skin and helps to promote both shine and manageability. It can be used as a hot oil treatment, mixed with conditioner or added to other oils such as castor oil for a moisture surge.

Tea tree oil - More of an antibacterial oil, tea tree has the ability to nourish roots as well as unclog hair follicles. Known for being potent, experts don't advise applying tea tree directly to the scalp.

Grape seed oil - Grape seed oil is best applied to hair when wet. It is lightweight yet effective at locking in moisture, and is especially useful for those with finer hair textures.
This silky oil envelops hair effortlessly and delivers hydration to strands that need it the most.

Shea butter - Shea butter becomes an oil once melted and its thick consistency contains fatty acids that protect hair from the elements (such as extreme cold or the sun) and keep it thoroughly nourished.

Lavender oil - Lavender oil is definitely one to have on your radar. It smells amazing. It's great for creating shine and encouraging hair growth. It also feels nice on the scalp and can be used with your favourite conditioner." This also boasts ultra nourishing olive oil and almond oil.

Avocado oil - Packed with vitamins A, E and B5, as well as antioxidants, biotin and essential fatty acids, avocado oil helps to smooth over damaged hair strands and strengthen and moisturise hair, leaving hair feeling healthy and restored.
