Genus Acanthocolpus (Trematoda: Acanthocolpiidae) is one of the most important zoonotic digenean with wide geographic distribution in the world. The purpose of the present study was to describe morphological and morphometrical characteristics of Acanthocolpus species, currently prevalent in marine fish fauna of Puri coast, Orissa, India. Gastro-intestinal organs of Leiognathus daura (Cuvier) in Puri coast, Orissa, India, were examined for infectivity with digenean trematode species. For examination and measurements of helminthes, acetoalum carmine staining was performed, followed by camera Lucida drawings of morphological characters and measurements of morphometrical criteria with a calibrated microscope. Using valid trematode systematic keys, almost all the parasites were identified at the level of species. Overall, 36 marine fishes were found infected with at least one species of Acanthocolpus. Considering morphological characteristics of Acanthocolpus, two species were identified...
The present investigation is the study on helminth fauna from economically important edible food fishes of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The various species of digenetic helminth parasites recovered from river Gomti. Some species identified were older with known information and few are newly identified for Science stream. The current paper involves the detailed description and study of these new species Orientocreadium lucknowensis sp.nov found in the intestine of Clarius batrachus (Jord.). This species ahs the properties like body aspinose instead of spinose and extension of vitellaria from anterior level of ovary up to hind end of body instead of middle of ventral sucker up to posterior end of body. These differences are considered as specific variation, thus the species designated as a new species with specific name Orientocreadium lucknowensis sp. nov.

Digenetic trematodes of the Subfamily Aphanurinae Skrjabin Guschanskaja, 1954 infecting the commercially important fish Thryssa malabarica (Bloch, 1795) (Clupeiformes, Engraulidae) from the brackishwater bodies of Kerala, IndiaThree species of digenetic trematodes of the Family Hemiuridae Looss, 1899, Subfamily Aphanurinae Skrjabin & Guschanskaja, 1954 with their prevalence, intensity of infection and mean abundance are reported Aphanuroides lethrini, Aphanurus stossichii and Aphanurus tuberculatus. A total of 26 specimens of Thryssa malabarica (Bloch, 1795) were examined for digenean infection. Prevalence of infection of A. lethrini, A. stossichii and A. tuberculatus were 11.53%, 69.23% and 15.38%, respectively, the intensity of infection were 1.6, 3.1 and 2.5 and the mean abundance were 0.19, 2.15 and 0.38, respectively. The prevalence, intensity and mean abundance of infection were at the maximum level in A. stossichii infection. Recovery of these parasites from T. malabarica represents a new host record and the first report from Kerala. The characteristic features of the recovered digeneans are discussed.

Digenetic Trematode parasites in two fresh water fishes Ophiocephalus punctatus and Xenentodon cancila from North west Himalayas2022 •
Fresh water fishes are the common shelter for various species of digenetic trematode parasites in Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), abundantly found in river Gomti, different ponds and canals of Lucknow. Fishes carry heavy infection of helminth parasites and serve as the host of different helminth parasites. Infection of these parasites may be result in poor growth, postpone sexual maturity and mortality of fishes, and cause human and animal diseases due to weak association of host and parasites. Digenean trematodes are important helminth parasites of Fresh water fishes. In this paper we have reported the seasonal fluctuation in the prevalence, intensity and relative density patterns of digenean infection in fresh water fishes from river Gomti Lucknow (India) during the Jan, 2011 to Dec, 2011.

Redescription of Pseudolepidapedon Balistis Manter , 1940 and a Biological Variant ( Trematoda : Acanthocolpidae ) from the Red Sea Fishs ; Balistoides Viridescens and Rhinecanthus Assasi2015 •
During a survey of Red Sea fish parasites, two trematodes belonging to the genus Pseudolepidapedon Yamaguti, 1938 were encountered: P. balistis Manter, 1940 was found in the small intestine of the fish Balistoides viridescens and was redescribed for the first time from Egypt; adding many detailed morphological and ultrastructural characters. The second trematode was found in the small intestine of the fish Rhinecanthus assasi and found to represent a biological variant of the previous species as it differs from it in its generally smaller dimensions, shape of suckers and pharynx and the testes. SEM details of the first species were described for the first time illustrating the differences in the spination and papillae on different parts of the body; which may be of taxonomic importance in recognizing future different species of the genus.

A new hemiurids digenean, Hypohepaticola garuaii sp. nov., is described from specimens recovered from the Liver of the Pseudeutropius garua (Day), from Bay of Bengal, Puri, Odisha. The new species is characterized by having genital pore at the level of intestinal bifurcation instead of mid level of pharynx and vesicular seminalis saccular instead of tubular and in relative shape and size of various organs. This new species represents the first record of member of the genus Hypohepaticola Yamaguti, 1934 parasitizing marine fish Pseudeutropius garua (Day), from Bay of Bengal, Puri, Odisha. A key is presented for the species currently recognized as valid in the genus. Thus on account of above-mentioned differences as against all those described earlier, the present form deserves the status of a new species.
Trematodes belonging to the Phylum Platyhelminth are poorly studied in fishes of Karachi coast and the literature is also widely scattered. Shaukat and Bilqees prepared a check list of Trematodes in 2005. But later no such work was conducted. Therefore; it was desired to prepare an updated checklist of Trematodes from Karachi coast. At present, a total of 198 species of trematodes are known from the Karachi coast of Pakistan reported by various authors.
