Re: Nolina parviflora
Those pics by Gabriel Diazinfante are spectacular. I've been there - Cerro La Laja - but his pictures are better than mine On the other side of the steep ravine is the southern disjunct population of Agave montana. Here is a link to the page on my blog about it.

I find those Nolina parviflora very interesting as the plants around that area totally atypical and don't resemble other populations of that species very much. There was a paper published a while back about geographical variation within the species but I think these push it a bit far. I have to say I'm not entirely convinced that is what they are. In many ways they more closely resemble Nolina hibernica which is found in the northeast alongside Agave montana and that kind of goes with the 'copy and paste' thing that is going on with the flora on Cerro La Laja and the high peaks in the northeast. I wouldn't be surprised if they were a new species.

Re: Nolina parviflora
Some habitat pics of different populations.
A population of lovely plants east of Mexico City near Texcoco. Lousy camera back then.

Re: Nolina parviflora
These were somewhere along the Tlaxiaco/Hidalgo border. There were some roadworks along our intended route and we were diverted to Heaven Knows Where.
