HAZEMBOURG

In a few words

Overview

Hazembourg is a rural town of 143 inhabitants characterized by a strong importance of agricultural land.
The inhabitants of the commune are called Hazembourgeois.
The area of the municipality of Hazembourg is 1.71 km².

A little history...

The village suffered seriously from the Thirty Years' War in the 1637th century, as attested by a document from XNUMX and due to the lord of Albestroff: "In Überkinger, Wentzwiller, Steinbach, Schweix, Altwiller, Hazembourg and Kirviller no one has year, the villages being abandoned. »
But the storm passed, over the years, the village is repopulated, until recovering a real existence, in particular by the construction of a church. This was erected in 1857, a highly symbolic act for the last Catholic village before Protestant Alsace.

Although it unquestionably belongs to the German-speaking sector, the town regularly sees its official acts, notably notarized, in French, without any explanation being found for this habit.
