Successful Farming names Jessie Scott editor-in-chief

Jessie Scott has been named editor-in-chief of the Successful Farming brand. She will replace Gil Gullickson, who has retired after 18 years with Dotdash Meredith.

"For more than 120 years, Successful Farming has produced service journalism that helps farmers improve their operations and their lives. I am honored and humbled to be the 11th steward of that legacy," says Scott, who grew up on a corn, soybean, and cow-calf farm in Marengo, Iowa, where her parents farm today.

"This brand means a lot to me, to our staff, and to the farmers we serve, including my family. I am incredibly excited to build on our legacy of editorial excellence while adapting our brand to meet the needs of today's farmers," she says.

"This is a defining moment for the brand," says Marty Wolske, Successful Farming publisher. "Content needs are evolving at an ever-accelerating pace. Jessie has the intuition it takes to fulfill these new necessities while continuing to uphold the excellence by which Successful Farming is known."

Scott has been on the Successful Farming team for more than 10 years, where she has held a variety of positions across editorial, digital, and digital advertising. In multiple roles, she has proven her ability to learn about a new aspect of the business and adapt that to the needs of readers.

When overseeing Agriculture.com, Scott built up content distribution to make it easier for farmers to find the content they need, whether through search, social media, or email newsletters.

Recipient of the International Federation of Ag Journalists Alltech Young Leader in Agricultural Journalism Award, the Andy Markwart Horizon Award, and named a Master Writer by the Ag Communicators Network, Scott is a distinguished content creator.

Scott received a bachelor's degree in journalism, mass communications, and public relations from Drake University. She returned to complete a master's degree in communication leadership.
