Listen, it's summer. Sun protection is imperative 24/7, 365, but especially when it's 90 degrees and the sun is beating down relentlessly. Sunscreen is a must-have, but sometimes you gotta call in the reinforcements, like a wide-brim straw hat or baseball cap to further shield your precious skin from those UV rays. But the hat hair, you say? How do I possibly style my hair for all-day hat-wearing? Leave it to Natalie Portman to solve your sunny day quandaries with one chic accessory and some predictably perfect loose waves.

The actor came to the French Open on June 7 in Paris in a Christian Dior raffia bucket hat to help protect her face from the summer sun. The hat was placed atop a styled but not fussy head full of undone waves, a.k.a., the perfect canvas for a tight-fitting hat. A few caramel highlights added brightness around her face. Where full curls could have been suffocated under the brim and a sleek style may have looked too harsh under the relaxed raffia hat, the beachy waves were the perfect Goldilocks-style fit for Portman's sunny, tennis-watching engagement.

Save for her floral dress with puffed sleeves, the Oscar winner kept the rest of her French Open look as low-key and lovely as her hairstyle. She wore an oversize pair of cat-eye sunglasses for even more sun protection (kudos, Natalie!) with only a bit of her brows visible, a flush of baby pink blush, and a matching pink-stained lip.

Portman is all about subtle statements. Throughout her decades in the spotlight, we've seen the star stick to the classics while incorporating trends that feel true to her vibe. Think the long waves and off-the-shoulder gown she wore in 2017 or the chin-skimming bob she debuted at the 2020 Oscars. In 2021, she told Allure that her approach to beauty is all about impact and efficiency. "Quite minimal, probably just a strong lip and almost no makeup otherwise. I have about a five-minute attention span for doing my own hair and makeup. Lipstick is the best. Like, you have style, but it takes five seconds." Sounds like a summer beauty philosophy we can get behind.
