And by far Season 7 has been my third favoruite season to watch, seasons 1,2,3 and 4 were good but I didn't like it even though the storylines by far the best and great, but Season 7 opens when it ends with Alexis's life in danger as Blake is over enraged by the way she and Ben have cheated him on everything, taking entirely everything away from him and really you can't blame him. I liked it by the way Alexis had a change of heart in mid-season and left Blake and Krystal get back everything and be together. But I have to say my mid-season the sets changed, didn't they? Sammy-Jo's living room/study changed fairly quickly didn't it? It was sad the reason why, Dynasty was now slowly dying, and they tried very hard to save money and it was far expensive to keep Alexis's penthouse and La Mirage, that's why it was burnt down, and to get viewers back as the place burnt with major characters in it, and why the Carlton Hotel was introducted, sad was isn't it? So basically it was the last Dynasty Season of glamour. And there's something else I liked about the writers of Dynasty was the writers in American can bring back someone who all thought to be dead (like Dallas "with it was all a dream"?).And another thing that I have picked up on is the characters background, they change throughout the seasons, didn't they? Kystle stated she didn't like horses but in the next seasons she was riding them and even admitted that her grandparents lived on a farm and she was bought up near horses, how did that work out? But I love Joan Collins's acting and her betrayl of Alexis Morrell Carrington-Colby-Dexter-Rowe, how many times was she married in the nine years it was on air? But on the whole I am a truly Dynasty fan and would love the Colbys to come out to, so I and you, fans, can have the Dynasty/Colby collection and live through the drama and passion and witty one-liners. Hope for them to come out soon.
This season starts up where season 6 left of. Alexis almost gets killed by a furius blake but the last minute she was saved and the season starts with blake trying to regain his lost fortune and house.
A Real great season full of intrigues, passion and adventure is this 7nth season in which we see TWO GREAT LOVE REUNIONS even for a few episodes. Sammy joe and steven are back together and also blake is back with alexis by the middle of the season even though he tried to kill her half season ago...LOL
By the end of the season we even see THE RETURN OF MATTHEW BLAISDEL (bo hopkins) who came back.... "FOR WHAT U BLAKE STOLE FROM ME. I CAME BACK FOR YOU KRYSTLE"...
Although dynasty was not the NO 1 show since last season the ratings were still strong and dynasty remained in the NIELSEN'S TOP 30 by the end of 1987. The show was #24 with a 17.8 rating which was surely less than previous years but still was a respectfull number if we consider the show was 7 years on the air. The decline of the ratings continued in the final two seasons and then the show was cancelled only to be back 2 years later with the reunion series which did fairly in the ratings in 1991 but not enough to resurrect the show.
Let's hope seasons 8 and 9, the reunion, the E true hollywood story and the two colbys seasons TO BE RELEASED SOON SO THAT WE CAN COMPLETE OUR DYNASTY // RELATED DVD COLLECTION.
now we will get 1 season per year damn... hope i am wrong
but better that way than no way at all :)
the twists and turns are getting a little vain ending
in deep watters with joan collins
and the ratings went even deeper sadly ..
but this show is stil the best show ever for me
only 2 more seasons to go + a hope for reunion
maybe the colbys, paramount ? is it to much to ask ?
btw thank you very much paramount for having dynasty on dvd :)
There are some of the bizarrest twists yet in this season. Amnesiac, after an oil rig explosion, Blake thinks Alexis is still his wife, another ploy of the Serpent of Old Denver to get back the oil leases she lost to Blake and they get all loved up,until Krystle comes along to rescue Blake and spoil the fun.
Cuckoo Claudia started the fire at La Mirage at the end of the last season, she doesn't survive, but the rest do, including Amanda Carrington who not only has a new face, she has inexplicably lost her British cut glass accent and now sounds American. She also has lost her 'Ice Queen' image enough to dally with the hired help, Michael Cullane, the one time family chaffeur who had a fling with Fallon. They fall in 'lurve' in double quick time and then she disappears halfway through the season, without a lot of explanation. Good riddance.
Little Krystina is now three, but still referred to as 'The Baby', her metier in life is constantly to be told to take a nap or to go to bed, although there is a sad litttle time when she needs a heart transplant, which piles on the pathos.
Ben Carrington and Alexis, both having been evil incarnate through the last season and half of this one, suddenly have complete personality transplants and become nice and caring.Ben has suddenly found his long lost daughter (another long lost rellie- give me strength!!),and is now Daddy Dearest. I liked him better when he was nasty.
Alexis' outfits still steal every scene she is in and there are some corkers!
Stephen and Sammy Jo make up to break up again. The 'Is he or isn't he Adam Carrington?'controversy still rages- haven't they heard of a blood test to confirm paternity?
There are big enough holes in the plots to drive a double decker bus through, but it is still enjoyable hokum.
Still love it.
