Nice looking latch for a fair price
Nice looking small antique bronze ornamental swing arm latch, nice accent for your woodworking projects. Don't expect it to be something it was not designed to be. It is ornamental not a security lock. Any child can figure out how it works in seconds. Adults might take a bit longer :)Left/Right hinges, needed if you are using two latches on opposing sides of a jewelry/keepsake box.Recommend installing an adhesive felt bumper between the carcass and the door/window. Then gently squeeze the door/window shut with a clamp slightly compressing the felt bumper.With the clamp in place use a #3 Vix centering drill bit and position the hook piece of the latch on the surface where you want it, hold in place with two way tape or by hand as you are comfortable. Now, just start a hole with the Vix bit. The screws that come with the latch are like 1/4" long, so just start a hole with the Vix bit, maybe 1/16th inch deep.Use a hand screw driver only to put the first screw in, adjust the hook piece of the latch to final position and Vix bit drill the other hole, install second screw with hand driver. Position the catch piece of the latch with the hook through the hole, repeat the above, install the screws one at a time, repositioning the latch after the first screw is installed for final positioning. Voila!I purchased two more for my hardware inventory, I know I will use them on future products.

These swing locks were just the right size and had the features I liked to secure the cushions on our outdoor wicker storage couch. Before there was a slight gap to close the seat, now all is tight and looks very classy with brass name plate on front. They swing fairly easily and appear to be sturdy and heavy duty enough to hold. Would recommend.
Update: One of these broke as of end of 2022. It is outside and I know metal corrodes. Had hopes it would last longer than 1 yr. The other is still holding.
