5.0 out of 5 stars Speed if you need it!

Having access to 4 USB3 ports ...well worth the money if you've got a spare PCIe-4x port or better available.
Easy to install. If you envision simultaneously using more than 1-USB3 port at once,
far faster than using optional PCIe-1x devices.
Only wish it had an internal USB3 access point, otherwise very happy after 1 month of use.

I would not coexist with my IEEE-1394 card. It would stop boot at POST. However was able to live without 1394 in that box at this time.

Tried a regular USB 3 add on card but it kept crashing whenever I plugged a 2nd item into the USB port. This card has 3 individual controllers and allowed me to run 2 USB hard drives and a USB DVD recorder at the same time

I realized I needed more USB ports for my aging Windows desktop, so decided to try my luck with this card.
The motherboard ports are all occupied by peripherals (keyboard, mouse, etc.). Honestly though, it was just a good excuse to try something new.
Ideally, I needed two additional ports for backups, and moving drives between systems. There are a lot of 2-port cards on the market already, but all place limits on transfer speed due to the use of a single USB 3.0 controller (the Rocket card has one for each port).

Installation was easy and painless (plug the card in, power up, install the supplied driver and reboot). It worked fine with two different WD MyBooks and a thermal take dock I had lying around (with a separate Seagate drive).
Turns out this card is severe overkill for what I am doing (surprise), not that I'm complaining.
You get a lot for the money, and its nice knowing you are set for the foreseeable future.
It should be able to handle anything you decide to throw at it - external USB 3.0 drives, SSD's, etc. (500MB/s per port is good for a long while, I'd imagine).

Seems to me, that it's the best USB 3.0 upgrade out there right now.
It supports all current USB drives/docks, and is the only USB card that could really make use of SSD's.
