Roger Dean paints ethereal, dreamlike kingdoms filled with floating islands, glassy oceans and eternal horizons. Born from a childhood love of Chinese landscape paintings, natural history and sci-fi hero Dan Dare, they are instantly familiar, yet utterly alien. In the 70s, acidheads tripped out to them on the album covers of prog giants like Yes, Asia and Uriah Heep. Today, these far-out fantasies seem to offer a just-out-of-reach paradise, a drifting futureworld calling out from within our collective consciousness.
