Description

Shipping cost defaults to $9 for an insulated flat rate box. I can calculate the cost of overnight shipping on request once auction ends. I will ship to the United States only, as mailing out of country is unreliable at this time. I will not ship eggs if temperatures are expected to exceed 85F. Payment by PayPal only - payment must be sent within 2 days of end of auction. Package will be shipped on the Monday following sale. This auction is for 20+ Cyprinodon rubrofluviatilis (red river pupfish) eggs. Parents were collected at Prairie Dog Town Fork Red River (2020). Extra eggs are added to each purchase to help cover any possible losses. Overnight shipping in the US has a live arrival guarantee of the guaranteed number of eggs (20 live eggs). If eggs arrive dead upon 6 hours of delivery and the amount of surviving eggs is less than the guaranteed number (20 eggs), buyer must pay for return shipping of dead eggs in original packaging and shipping for replacement eggs. I guarantee fertile eggs. Eggs will be shipped in a methylene blue solution. Upon receiving the package, use the included pipette to remove eggs from solution and into hatching container/s. Do not include any salt until eggs hatch, but keep ph above 8.0. Fry hatch too small to eat baby brine shrimp. As with all members in the genus Cyprinodon, these fish can tolerate a range of salinity from freshwater to a salinity stronger than seawater. In my experience with this species, no acclimation is required when changing salinity. This species requires a temperature range of 40-90F. They can likely withstand a wider range of temperatures but I have not tested it. Adults are omnivores, fry are insectivores. Fish burrow when stressed, and prefer a fine sand (such as the sand youd find on an ocean beach) substrate to hide in. Adults are territorial and prefer structures to hide around/defend. Very personable fish with lots of interesting behaviors. Males turn blue and orange when displaying. Included photo is of an adult male only partially colored up due to the stress of being captured for photos. If you have any questions, ask before bidding.
