Beau Allen returns to Kentucky

Update: Beau Allen has officially committed to Kentucky Football.

Allen announced the news Monday night on Twitter.

As it stands, the Bluegrass native will have two years of eligibility.

“I would like to thank Coach Stoops and the entire University of Kentucky football family. I am extremely excited to announce I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of Kentucky. I can’t wait to get to work,” Allen wrote on Twitter.

Expect Allen to be the favorite for the No. 2 QB job behind Georgia Football transfer Brock Vandagriff.

The Kentucky Wildcats are in need of depth in the quarterback room with Kaiya Sheron and Destin Wade both transferring out, along with Devin Leary using his final year of eligibility.

Even with the huge commitment of Georgia Bulldogs backup Brock Vandafriff, Kentucky needed another experienced arm, and they appear to have found that in a former player.

Kentucky is bringing back Beau Allen, according to Ryan Lemond of KSR.

Allen, who is originally from Lexington, started his collegiate career at Kentucky as a class of 2020 recruit. During his two seasons, he played in five games while completing 11/19 passes for 132 yards while notching a rushing touchdown. After figuring out he wasn’t going to start while Will Levis was still in town, Allen elected to transfer to Tarleton State.

After transferring to Tarleton State, Allen started 11 games and threw for 2,357 passing yards with 23 touchdowns vs. 11 interceptions on the season. He also added 72 rushing yards and a touchdown. Allen led the WAC in passing touchdowns and ranked second in passing yards.

In 2023, Allen opted to get back in the FBS ranks and transferred to Georgia Southern but was ruled ineligible due to the NCAA instituting new transfer rules. You can read about Allen’s situation in this Twitter thread.

With Allen deciding to transfer back to Kentucky, it will bring in much-experienced depth that the UK needs in the quarterback room as they hope to develop Cutter Boley into the future starting quarterback in the near future.
