BMW K1300R (2011-2012) Specs, Performance & Photos

The BMW K1300R was a naked motorcycle manufactured by BMW from 2009 to 2015. The bike replaced the H1200R, which was BMW's flagship urban motorcycle. The British Company Ricardo plc slightly modified the bike's engine and fitted an exhaust butterfly flap, improving torque and sound.

The BMW K1300R was considered a muscle bike due to its naked style, high power output, and fast acceleration. Over its production period, the bike was never offered for sale in the American market, although it was sold in the smaller Canadian market.

In 2011, the German motorcycle manufacturer launched the BMW K1300R, a naked sports machine, arguably the most powerful naked production machine ever designed by the House of Munich at the time.

Underneath its fuel tank, the 2011 BMW K1300R had installed a 1,293cc four-stroke liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine with an electronically controlled fuel injection system in charge, boasting 175 hp at 9,250 rpm and 140 Nm (103 lb-ft) torque at 8,250 rpm.

The engine worked in tandem with a six-speed manual transmission with a wet multi-plate clutch that spun the rear wheel through a final shaft drive to a top speed of 266 kph (165 mph).

The bike had a high-end EVO braking system and a Duolever front and Paralever rear suspension system that improved maneuverability and safety. Also, the motorcycle was available with optional features, such as Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS II), Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA II), a race-derived automatic shift function, and a MotoGP-style 2D dashboard.
