Novartis is breaking ground on the construction of a 550,000 square foot campus of lab, office and retail space at 181 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, MA, across the street from the global headquarters for the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) in the historic NECCO building.

The project features the addition of two new buildings and the renovation of a third building that exists on the site. Renowned designer Maya Lin developed the overall campus plan and one of the new buildings. Toshiko Mori is designing the other new building. The new campus will create an ideal work environment for communication and interdisciplinary collaboration for the discovery of new medicines.

In addition to new lab and office space the expanded campus will also bring vibrancy to the area with 8,000 square feet of street-level retail space that will help link Kendall and Central Squares.

AV Helpdesk has been named the audiovisual consultant, and will be designing and implementing a number of cutting-edge collaborative spaces to meet the expanding needs of this high tech research facility.
