Argemone Ochroleuca - Mexican Poppy seed

Argemone Ochroleuca - Mexican Poppy is an annual plant that is extremely hardy and is tolerant of drought and poor soil. It has yellow flowers, so it will definitely add a ray of sunshine to your garden! It has typical Poppy flowers, hollow stems, and a ‘pepper shaker’ seed capsule. Prior to flowering, it resembles a thistle because of its prickly toothed leaves. This plant is a bluish-green or greyish-green color and has waxy marbling to the leaves. The leaves are a silvery green with white veining with deep regular lobes. The stem leaves are stalkless and clasp onto the plant’s stem. The stems are cylindrical and whitish in color and have scattered prickles. When the stems are broken, the stems release a yellowish milky sap. They have a blooming season that lasts from Spring to Summer, can be grown in either full sun or partial shade in well-draining soil, and will grow up to 3 feet tall. These flowers will attract pollinators to your garden such as Butterflies and Bees while being resistant to Deer and Rabbits. They are native to Mexico and do well in beds and borders in the garden.

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike!  There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!

SEED GERMINATION TIP!!!!!!!

ONLY GERMINATE A SMALL PORTION AT A TIME.

DON'T PUT ALL YOUR MONKEYS IN A BARREL.

Good Luck and Happy Planting!!!!
