Pet of the week: American pit bull-terrier mix Ripley

The Republic | azcentral.com
Ripley is a rambunctious pooch who will need an active owner and lots of room in the backyard.

Meet Ripley, a 1-year-old mix of terrier and American pit bull with a black coat, blocky head and flyaway ears.

He's an injured stray who was rescued by emergency animal medical technicians at the Arizona Humane Society with multiple wounds all over his body.

Ripley took two weeks to recover in the trauma center after vets cleaned him up. He is very loving and likes to give kisses and wag his tail. He thinks he's a lap dog and will gladly let you know he's ready for a belly rub by rolling over.

This guy has plenty of energy. He loves to play fetch and go for fast-paced walks, loving everyone he meets along the way.

Ripley definitely will need an active owner, a spacious yard and plenty of exercise.

Bring the whole family to make sure you're a good match for this goofy, gregarious pooch. You'll see when you meet Ripley that he already knows such commands as sit, down and roll over. He also will use a doggy door.

Visit Ripley at the Arizona Humane Society's Campus for Compassion, 1521 W. Dobbins Road, Phoenix. His adoption fee is $50 and includes his neuter surgery and vaccines. For more information, call 602-997-7585 and ask for animal ID number A500802, or visit azhumane.org.

Updates: Last week's featured dog, George, was adopted and now lives in Gilbert.
