Semiarundinaria yashadake 'Kimmei' has yellow culms with green grooves. The leaves are dark green. This is a vigorous runner and prolific shooter, making a dense privacy screen. When grown in full sun the culms acquire a beautiful red blush in the fall, as shown in the second picture. Although naturally tall and willowy, it can be topped to any height or to maintain compact, upright canes.
