Ventral view of a female and male copepod, published in Journal of Crustacean Biology.
Mouthparts of a new species of copepod, Spiniferaphonte ornata Gheerardyn & Fiers, 2007, published in Journal of Crustacean Biology.
Dorsal and lateral view of a new species of copepod, Halophytophilus lopheliae Gheerardyn, Seifried & Vanreusel, 2008, published in Zootaxa.
First and second leg of a new species of copepod, Halophytophilus lopheliae Gheerardyn, Seifried & Vanreusel, 2008, published in Zootaxa. This new species has been described from the washings of dead cold-water coral fragments, collected from a depth of 880m SW of Ireland. Note the impressive, sawlike setae on top of the first leg, which are most likely used to cling to the surface of these fragments.
Dorsal views of some copepods showing differences in body shape and size (the largest one here about 600µm, the smallest one 360µm).
