Chrysophyllum Gonocarpum

Seeds were imported from Brazil. Chrysophyllum gonocarpum is a semi-deciduous tree with a dense crown growing 10 - 20 metres tall. Although it often forms branches from low down on the bole, some specimens can have a straight and uniform bole that can be unbranched for 20 - 30 metres. The trunk can be 50 - 80cm in diameter. Forests, especially in the Amazonian foothills, mainly towards the bottom of slopes or in valleys where the soil is more wet. The fruit is consumed out of hand, it is sweet, with a thick juicy pulp. The fruit is said to be lacking in flavor, but is quiet sweet. Expect to see fruit in around 5-7 years from seed, these trees can get loaded with fruit even when the tree is not very large. Seeds will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
