Awesome Service with Great Knowledge
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Farmington, NM did such an awesome job. I walked into the store just wanting to find a Internet modem. An assistant came up, her name was Ira she knew what laptop would be best for me. Just with her excellent customer service I walked out purchasing a Hp Laptop.

I got it for less than $500, so it feels worth it.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1.) First you gotta know that restart (not shutdown) may be needed when locating your internet initially or switching from wireless to cable. This would have saved me hours of frustration. 2.) The keyboard took my fingers some time to get used to, but the skipping of a letter that I type has greatly improved. It need a solid push down. Maybe with the keys being so flat they seem like they shouldn't need so much pressure to type, but it needed a little more than I was used to. 3.) Volume, Isn't so loud at maximum volume that you have to turn it down. I expected to want to, need to turn down the volume at maximum volume being that this is a Beats Audio technology built computer. but hey, it is loud enough. 4.) My son played one of his internet war battle games and the browser started flashing and the computer needed to be restarted. I think this isn't the best computer for gaming based on that experience. So I don't let him use it for gaming. That wasn't my primary purpose for buying this computer anyways. 5.) Netflix. The screen is good. Definitely not Pure 3D lifelike awesome, but it does the job and some focusing seems to happen when beginning a movie and then it clears up more after a bit. But the quality in my opinion is better than my Kindle Fire HD. 6.) Windows 8.1 really caused me to wish this computer was a touch screen. But that would have been a $200 or more upgrade, so I just got over that. 7.) It switches between screens and it can be really annoying because it happens with certain mouse motions or something and I am not sure yet how to stop that or go back to the previous screen except to move the mouse to the top left corner of the screen and then down a bit and click. But, sometimes I have to repeat the process and it gets frustrating. ok, I have to look up that fix. 8.) I love having the option to choose the desktop version. I go back and fort quite a bit. 9.) I really wish this laptop came with a 1 year subscription for the Antivirus, because I spent all my money and didn't have any left to buy one and I am uneducated about the free ones out there, so I feel very concerned about virus protection being expired, so if you can, I would wait until you have researched which virus protection you want on your computer and make sure you have enough money to get it if you are going to buy one. 9.) I bought this computer to use Microsoft Office and for the potential of working at HSN Work at home job. This I believe fits all there criteria, so when I am ready I will hopefully, get the specs list and they will be all there. I have seen the specs list a while back and this fits the list, but since they no longer post the specs required I am not sure. This computer is great for checking email, using Facebook, or doing home school work or Microsoft Office work, or just general browsing. I am still getting use to all its applications. Btw, when you search for a product, it literally becomes your advertisement in email, on many websites etc. That is a bit annoying, especially if you are just looking up a product you bought for the more details about it. Like this computer for example. I did a search on HSN, Best buy and now I see comparable laptops an the price everyday. Same thing with Kmart when I was looking at telescopes, not the ads are in your face telescopes everyday. But I believe you can change the settings, but also that this is part of the Windows 8.1 design. Overall, I am very happy with this computer. From what I can tell, most similar computers are about $200 more expensive, so less than $500 feels like a great deal to me.

Great laptop for a low price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop offers a 17" inch screen that, although bright, I would have appreciated a higher screen resolution. That being said, it's not an acceptable screen, especially given the larger size for the low price. It's 6 gigs of RAM does the job. Unfortunately, you can only upgrade by another 2 gigs for an 8 gig max. This will only really affect gamers and those working in video or 3d animation. The 5th generation i5 chip was only slightly slower in performance than the 1st generation i7 chip. For me, the slightly slower processor was balanced by having a larger screen. All in all, it's handling my video and 3d animation work quite well and the larger screen gives me the real estate I need to organize my work space. I would definitely recommend this laptop.

Good computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded to this computer from an eight year old HP Pavilion Desktop. I love the portability and the 17 inch screen does not make it feel like a small computer - more like a portable desktop - which I like. Speed is obviously much improved over what I had before. I like the hard disk capacity. Startup is quick and efficient. No operating problems. Battery lasts about 4.5 hours - which is fair. Only frustrating characteristic is the mouse. It seems to have a will of its own. It is easier to use an external mouse, but always cumbersome lugging it around. All in all I am satisfied with this product for general use, save for the built in mouse.

Excellent laptop for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this on easter one day sale and can't beat the price for a 17.3" screen laptop with inter core i5. For the big size screen it is pretty light weight. I've owned many hp laptos before and the thing I like the most about this is it runs cool. All the other ones had issues with getting too hot. Only several cons, one is windows 8.1 which I can't stand but that is no reflection on the laptop of course. The other is wireless Lan doesn't seem to be up to par. Of all the computers and laptops I have in the house my internet speeds on this laptop are the slowest including my older version hp pavilion even though I'm 20' away from the modem.

Great Laptop for Work or Play
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy setup, nice looking, large screen. Keys could be a bit more raised to make typing easier. Prefer to have discs with purchase so I can decide which programs to install as there is too much bloatware. Other than that, computer is fast and meets my needs. I have had it for over a month so far with no issues.

Perfect for home, powerful enough for work.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very happy with my purchase (despite paying $100 more a month ago). I needed something affordable that was powerful enough to use for work and home. The 17inch screen is great for viewing both spreadsheets at work and watching movies, well, also at work. I did have an issue with very slow bootup time and failed Windows updates for the first few days. A google search told me it might be an antivirus software issue. I had installed the Webroot software that was included and I think McAfee was also preinstalled. After unistalling both (and installing a different brand), bootups are blazing fast and the updates aren't failing. Overall, its a great laptop for home entertainment that's powerful enough to handle the programs I use at the office.

Great office computer!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I brought this computer to replace my sixyear old laptop.I only use the Computer for internet, emails, and photos. It works like a charm.Have had it for about a month with no issues. Love the bigscreen! I leave my laptop at work on my desk and never move it so I can't really comment regarding portability. If your looking for an affordable latop to use for emails and Internet, then this is a great option. I'm sure it functions well for other functions also.

Asked by Mau.
- A:Answer Yes, it can be but you may find the response time/performance lacking since the resolution is only 720P and not 1080P. To maximize your gaming experience, you have to ensure that other applications are closed. Further, you may want to consider replacing the 750GB hard drive with an SSD.
