1996 BMW R1100RS

BMW arguably created the sport-touring segment with the R100RS, though future evolutions like the 1100, 1150, and 1200 weren’t as commercially successful. Still, they’re very competent machines that go fast enough an far enough in relative comfort. For $2,500, you could easily criss-cross the country a few times and still be ready for more.

The 1100cc boxer motor in this generation produced 90 horsepower, and it was paired with shaft drive and BMW’s second generation of ABS brakes. For more, check out this road test from Motorcycle.com. I personally prefer the GS in this generation (even for exclusively road-touring duties), but nowadays the RS is definitely less common and more of a bargain.

This example has 34,940 miles and the seller states that it’s in excellent condition. Extras include the OEM bags, aftermarket exhaust, and a protective sticker on the top triple.
