Temperament

Obedient, feisty and fun, the Miniature Schnauzer often has a nervous disposition. The Mini Schnauzer is a good companion for children and other pets. However, some may be aggressive toward other dogs: Your Miniature Schnauzer may start a fight - then expect you to be its rescuer. This breed is prone to barking and makes a good watchdog. Miniature Schnauzers tend to be good travelers.

History

Originally bred as a smaller version of the Standard and Giant Schnauzer, this dog was originally used for hunting rats. It is likely that the Affenpinscher may have also contributed to some bloodlines.
