Update: Looks like it’s a fake, as Stereogum points out.
Yep, you read the title right.
A woman named Cheyenne just didn’t want to deal with the confrontation of breaking up with her now ex-boyfriend Brayden, so she hired Sugar Ray‘s Mark McGrath for the job thanks to the personalized shoutout app Cameo.
“She wants you to know you mean a lot to her. You mean the world to her,” he says very enthusiastically in the viral video posted to Twitter. “But she’s having difficulty staying in this long-distance relationship.”
“Cheyenne is trying to let you know, Brayden, it’s very, very tough for her to stay in this relationship,” he continued. “She still cares about you a lot. You never know what the future may hold and she still wants to be friends with you.”
McGrath went on to relate to Brayden, noting that he knows how hard being on the road can be and how it’s even been taxing on his relationship with his wife.
Perhaps the most heart-wrenching part of this breakup is that Breyden is currently working on his thesis. “Probably not the best timing, Cheyenne, when he’s doing his thesis,” the crooner added.

He ended the video on a positive note, telling Brayden that he has “big things ahead.”
“Hopefully I could see you backstage, give you a high five someday, dude, and we can maybe laugh about this some time,” he ended.
