Identification

Distribution

Colombia and Ecuador, west of the Andes.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species which in the past was lumped with Brown-hooded Parrot.

This species is sometimes placed in genus Pionopsitta.

Habitat

Moist forests and montanes.
