French Lake is a 157 acre lake located in La Crosse County in the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge. Visitors have access to the lake from a public boat landing off of Spillway Drive Dike. Fish include Panfish, Largemouth Bass and Northern Pike. The lake borders the town of French Island and the wildlife and fish refuge. There are many long narrow islands that run the length of the lake and are filled with lush, thick forest. There is lots of aquatic vegetation and many quiet, natural areas to explore.
