Even for London’s ultra-luxury real estate market, the price is sensational: more than $262 million for a 45-room mansion in Knightsbridge.

For the buyer, Cheung Chung Kiu, it’s not even his most expensive purchase. The Chinese chairman of C C Land Holdings Ltd. bought a plot on the Peak in Hong Kong for HK$5.1 billion ($656 million) in 2015, a record at the time.
