Madhuri bagged her first Filmfare Award for the leading role in Dil. She won alongside Sunny Deol, who won Best Actor for Ghayal.

Dil also starred Anupam Kher, and Saeed Jaffrey. It was directed by Indra Kumar, written by Naushir Khatau and Kamlesh Pandey, with music composed by Anand-Milind.
