Eben is a Nigerian gospel minister, vocalist, and singer who has had an active career in the music industry since 2005.

Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, the fifth of six children from a Christian family, Eben gained interest in music by being mentored by his elder brother, a rapper, but Eben later discovered his calling to be a gospel singer.

Eben gained national prominence with his first album, "On the Rock", which includes songs like “Imaranma”, ”God Dey”, ”Iwo Nikan”, "I Don Hammer", and other tracks.

Today on The Convo, we get to sit down with Eben as he narrates his rise to fame, earliest inspirations, and his forthcoming album, “The Harvest''.

The interview starts with Eben narrating how he got introduced into the music ministry.

He says;

“It was when I got born again, I went to church with my friends and they just asked me to sing. I was not planning to be a singer or anything. The pastor saw like 5 of us that day...I was listening to a song by Morris Chapman and The Maranatha Singers and that’s the only song I could play God that minute. The moment I started singing, the whole hall was agog, people were screaming like I was literally shaking,it wasn’t my plan to do music or be a music minister, I was just learning the song”

He explains that this occurred first in the teenagers' church and that was how his career began from that experience.

Talking about his career professionally, Eben explains that he was privileged to be part of many seminars as a church boy and during a seminar on purpose, it became clear to him that singing was God’s plan for his life and his relationship with God made it easier for him.

Eben narrates his first professional recording, in his words;

“Before I came out as a solo act, I was In a group, E Double, so we did a recording, took a lot of sweat, it came out and didn’t do so well. It helped me to see that God’s plan for me was to be an individual act..”

He further states;

“The first one I recorded was Iwo Nikan” I did it at the convention in the stadium with Loveworld Campus Fellowship, it was amazing and my Pastor loved it, that’s how we began”

Talking of his breakthrough record, Eben makes it known that the album On The Rock elevated his musical career.

“The whole concept of that album was a submission of all my musical journey, rehearsals being part of other peoples recording, finding myself. On The Rock, was me being inspired by God to put something out of the box…” - he said

The singer also states that he has never been pressured to go into secular music as the holy spirit guides his every step.

Eben’s new album, The Harvest is already done and the singer narrates the creative process and how long it took to piece the job together.

The Harvest

“...when I got the opportunity to put the album together, I said what do I call it, then I remembered that there is a track on this album called The Harvest...so after all the hardship is time to harvest”

The album took about four years to be created and was welded from Eben’s live recordings of 2019.

"The Harvest" is a 10 track album with a collaboration.
