Another day, another restaurant group bringing joy to our homes via fresh takeaway meals. Today, it’s the respected Bentley Restaurant Group, which runs city fine-diner Bentley Restaurant & Bar, seafood restaurant Cirrus, and Monopole and trailblazing vegetarian eatery Yellow in Potts Point.

Each restaurant is now doing takeaway for the first time ever, with menus designed by the group’s executive chef and co-owner Brent Savage. Plus, group sommelier and co-owner Nick Hildebrandt is opening up his renowned wine cellar, bringing out special bottles (and some more affordable options) to pair with your dinner.

The four set menus are modelled on the restaurants’ traditional dine-in menus, with some tweaks to make dishes delivery-friendly. Like the takeaway meals we’ve been seeing from many other restaurants, the bulk of each dish is prepared at the restaurant, with a few finishing touches required by home cooks before plating up.

At $110 for two people, the Bentley menu is the most expensive, but it reflects Savage’s smart and creative approach to dining. It includes Wagyu beef cheek with beetroot and onion relish, some vegetarian sides and Bentley’s popular chocolate bar. Hildebrandt’s wine match is a 2015 cabernet blend from Bordeaux ($65).

While Yellow usually serves vegetarian and vegan dishes, the takeaway menu ($75 for two people) is all vegan. Kickstart the meal with kohlrabi, cauliflower and macadamia nut ravioli with herb oil dressing, and follow it up with pressed zucchini with turmeric and yellow-pepper sauce. For dessert, there’s roasted pineapple topped with coconut cream and candied granola, and the wine match is $52 French chablis from 2018.

The Monopole menu ($80 for two people) is perfect comfort food: house-made bread rolls; Monopole’s menu staple, the pork terrine; smoked chicken with bread stuffing; some vegetarian sides; and cheese with lavosh to top it all off. To drink, there’s a 2017 pinot noir from Gembrook Hill in Victoria ($60).

Cirrus’s menu ($90 for two people) favours seafood of course, with ocean-trout rillettes; king dory, potato and mushroom pie; a range of sides; and layered chocolate cake with caramel glaze for dessert. The paired wine is a 2018 chardonnay from Garagiste in Victoria ($62).

In addition to the paired wines, Hidelbrandt has compiled a wine list that champions Aussie drops, to support local winemakers during this difficult time. Even better – all the wines are being sold at retail prices, so you can get bottles ranging from $30 (a 2018 Woodlands chardonnay) to $650 (a rare NV Jacques Selosse champagne), with plenty of options in between. Bottled Negronis and Old Fashioneds are also available should you fancy a pre-dinner aperitivo hour.

The folks at the Bentley group have even compiled a Spotify playlist to listen to while you dine – just add fancy cutlery and tablecloths and you can pretend you’re out in the world. The delivery radius is six kilometres, encompassing much of the inner west, eastern suburbs, north shore, inner east and the city. Delivery is free for orders over $200, and $10 for orders over $75 (which is the minimum order for delivery). You can also arrange for pick-up of all four menus at Yellow.

The Bentley Restaurant Group’s takeway menu is available from 3pm to 8.30pm Wednesday to Sunday. Orders can be made up to seven days in advance here.
