There are 3 comments on How Cambodian Music Recalls Ancestors and Brings Comfort

  1. Nice interview. Thank you, Jeff Dyer and Art Jahnke. It is interesting that BEFORE Indian Classical musicians begin a performance they silently pray for a minute to seek blessings and to invite their parents/elderly members in the family and also their teachers (whether living or deceased) to the performance. I do the same when I perform Indian Classical Music. I wonder if the practice is widespread in countries of South Eastern Asia.

  2. Great interview. As someone involved in Cambodian studies, I am grateful for Jeff’s work. Not only does Jeff play Khmer music, he speaks the language and knows the culture from direct, personal experience. Thanks Jeff!
