What is the difference between a Lapel belly and lapel roll?
Confusing? A lapel roll, which is a folding or ‘rolling’ at the lower part of the lapel, raises the lapel away from the chest, just like the pages of an open book on a table. A strong lapel roll will produce in a hollow underneath it.
The lapel belly, on the other hand, adds fabric to what would otherwise be a straight line, and refers to a wider lapel, when, in fact, the width at the gorge is usually the same. The belly is used to highlight the shoulder line and chest.
