Moses Malone, former Washington Bullet, passes away at 60

BALTIMORE, MD - CIRCA 1987: Moses Malone #4 of the Washington Bullets dribbles the ball up court against the Milwaukee Bucks during an NBA basketball game circa 1987 at the Baltimore Civic Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Malone played for the Bullets from 1986-88.

Moses Malone, a three-time MVP and 12-time NBA All-Star, passed away in his sleep on Sunday morning.

Malone is best remembered for his time with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Houston Rockets, but Malone also spent two seasons with the Bullets. As a Bullet, he led the team to two playoff appearances and represented the team in the All-Star Game both seasons, averaging 22.2 points and 11.2 rebounds per game and posting a 22.4 PER.

While Malone's time in Washington may not be the first thing people remember about Malone's career, he was a steady presence that helped make the Bullets a playoff contender in the midst of a long stretch of basketball where Washington struggled to find success. After Malone left, the Bullets only made the playoffs once over the next 16 seasons. He will be missed.
