Tuchel to leave Bayern in the summer!

12 - Tuchel had initially signed a deal through to 30 June 2025, but will now depart Bayern 12 months earlier. 

464 - It means he will have been in charge 464 days since taking over on 24 March 2023. He will have enjoyed a shorter tenure at the Allianz Arena than Julian Nagelsmann, Hansi Flick and Niko Kovac. If the end of Matchday 34 were taken as Tuchel’s last day at work, then his stay would be measured at 421 days.

4 – Under Tuchel, Bayern have lost on average almost one of every four competitive games (11 of 44), and recently slipped to defeat in three successive matches in all competitions for the first time in almost nine years.

25 – Tuchel‘s percentage of defeats is the highest for a Bayern coach in 32 years since Sören Lerby lost 41 per cent (7/17) of games in charge. Most recent Bayern coaches have hovered around the 12 per cent mark, but Flick comes in with an impressive eight per cent.

64 – Tuchel’s winning percentage is the lowest since Louis van Gaal (2009-11). By contrast, Nagelsmann’s stood at 71 per cent, while Flick’s was 81 per cent, the highest of any Bayern coach in recent memory.

69 – Tuchel’s side have registered 69 points from 31 Bundesliga games (22 wins, 3 draws). It’s the second-best return for a Bundesliga coach since he took charge, surpassed only by Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso, who has picked up 71, including four from two games with Bayern this season.

2.2 – In terms of points per game, Tuchel has collected as many as Nagelsmann or Kovać. Pep Guardiola and Flick weighed in at 2.5 points per game, Carlo Ancelotti 2.4.

3 – Bayern have suffered three defeats in their opening five Rückrunde games, the last time that happened was under Jürgen Klinsmann in 2008/09.

12 – Bayern are looking like they will endure a first trophyless season since 2011/12. After that campaign, coach Jupp Heynckes stayed in his role, however, before going on to win the treble in 2012/13.

1 – Only once in Bundesliga history has a second-placed team had more points at this stage of a top-flight season than Bayern: Borussia Dortmund in 2015/16 under Tuchel had 51. In fact, Bayern have four more points now than they did after 22 games last season.

5 – Bayern have uncharacteristically struggled to convert in knockout games under Tuchel. They have lost five across the DFB Cup, DFL Supercup and Champions League, winning only once. 

100 – Bayern have brought up a century of goals in Tuchel’s first 44 games in charge, a healthy average of 2.3 a game. The problem has been at the other end where they have conceded 54, averaging 1.2 goals against per 90 minutes.

3 – In the Bundesliga, Tuchel’s Bayern boast an average of 2.6 goals a game, the third-best of all Bayern coaches, behind only Flick (3.0) and Nagelsmann (2.9). Guardiola’s side were at 2.5.

36 – The number of goals Tuchel’s side have conceded in 31 Bundesliga games, almost 1.2 a game. Predecessors Nagelsmann (1.1), Flick (1.0), Kovac (1.1), Heynckes (0.8, 2017/18), Ancelotti (0.7) and above all Guardiola (0.6) had much better ratios. 

10 - This season, Leverkusen have conceded just 15 goals in 22 games, 10 fewer than Bayern. Bayern boast the league’s best attack, but have struck 61 times with Leverkusen close on 57.
