Community Tasting Notes 6

March 29, 2022 - Fairly deep garnet red colour. Ripe red fruit nose with notes of graphite and raisin. Lots of oak in nose and taste. Punchy acidity and aggressive but not excessive tannins. Medium length with bit of a lingering bitter/green note. Did a good job with grilled steak.

February 6, 2022 - This was a delightful wine. Albeit from magnum, which may skew the experience (due to slower aging), this was even, balanced and expected for the appellation and price point. Disagree with Julian Marshall assessment, that it was more Listrac than Medoc....look at a geographical map and you answer your own question. Recommend from magnum and drink now or +2 years for a novice-Bordeaux audience. Cheers.

July 14, 2021 - I bought this out of curiosity as it used to belong to Jean Tigana, an iconic French footballer. Although the label says Haut Médoc it is very much like a Listrac in style, but sadly, like Listracs used to be in the 80s: hard, clumsy, tannic and drying. There is some fruit amidst the tannins but not enough. One glass was enough for me. At 8 euros, it was at least cheap.

    July 19, 2017 - Opened up nicely.

May 29, 2017 - Medium (+) ruby color with purple hints. Aromas of red and dark red fruits, red licorice, leather, and graphite. Medium body, acid, and finish, with flavors of red fruits, red licorice, and dry notes of black tea and dry leaves, maybe a touch of orange peel as well.
