  • The genie that many would say is supposed to be kept asleep for a much longer period. As an ‘unexposed’ bottle and upon opening, on the nose, there were distinct notes of red dark fruits (ripe cherries, pomegranate, raisin) and noticeable presence of floral and perfumed aromas. On the palate, it was wonderfully complex and concentrated. It really sets itself apart from the other DRC wines. Exceptionally well balanced, excellent structure and exceedingly elegant. Over the course of 4 hours, it was perpetually evolving and could not stop changing. It was sensually young and filled with muscular energy. It really showed the potential it has. Towards the end of my meal, nearly 4 hours in, there were waves of a blend of summer berries, caramel popcorn notes with some violet touches. I must say, after tasting this vintage, I am convinced that 2019 LT is the one to strong hold.

• Lovely encounter and a strong showing. Very fine texture here. Already a meaningful layering of elements on the palate. 98+

  • DRC 2019 Vintage Presentation: As always in the DRC line up, when you hit the La Tache it becomes immediately clear why it commands a price premium based on quality not just on scarcity or top of the line position. Next to the dense, ripe fruit there was an amazing aromatic complexity and refined structure. Succulent and serious. Surely a candidate for tripple digit with 15 years of bottle age. 99-100

  • Tasted in a arrivage tasting of all DRC 2019. Overall, the 2019s DRC are beautifully perfumed, very ripe wines, but they also carry a nice vein of acidity that is making them brighter and fresh. The bottles show incredible class, but also a certain ripeness that might be something that needs getting used to for purists. I thought that the terroir was showing beautifully, despite the ripeness of the year. The wines seemeed very different and true to their cru, especially at the beginning of the tasting and again with quite some air. In between the differences were just a tiny bit muddled.
Superbly deep, layered, complex and just overall an incredibly unique wine. Very perfumed, ripe dark red fruit, also some dark minerality, plum, balsamic notes, rose petals, licorice, some spices, flowers and herbal notes too. It‘s full-bodied, dense and authoritative, with depth, pretty high tannin and acidity, that will require some time to integrate, but there is more than enough complex fruit to absorb the structure. A great wine that will only need time, too back I probably won‘t ever taste it again. It was so fascinating to taste this next to the Romanée-Conti, this was more structured, bigger and richer, while RC was more elegant, full of finesse and class. They are both equally compelling and pretty much as good as wine gets for me.
