Why this petition matters

Started by JILLIAN CARRILLO

My YouTube channel , and many other channels on YouTube, have been unjustifiably removed from the YouTube partner program. Many up and coming channels with a substantial or steady subscriber growth rate, have been hurt emotionally, spiritually, and financially due to this.

They have my channel all wrong. My channel is accused of either having pornography, nudity, or sexual gratification. I would like to tell you exactly which one of those it is, but I received no clarity or significant help from the content creator chat line. I assure you that there is no pornography, nudity, nor any of my videos are for the purpose of providing sexual gratification. My tarot cards do have artwork, like the world card, lovers, devil, and judgement that do depict illustrated images of the buff human body, but this is considered artwork. Savage Garden's music video "Truly, madly, deeply" has nude sculpted statues at the very beginning of their video, yet this does not violate the guidelines.

Here is YouTube's interpretation of sexual gratification:

"If you're posting content. Don't post content on YouTube if it has any of the items below. Explicit content featuring the below policy violations could result in channel termination.

Depiction of genitals, breasts or buttocks (clothed or unclothed) for the purpose of sexual gratification
Pornography or depicting sexual acts, genitals or fetishes for the purpose of sexual gratification on any surface (such as video, text, audio, images)."

My channel is not what they are saying it is. My particular channel discusses astrology, spirituality, numerology, and tarot cards. I do discuss intimate characteristics of the zodiac on some of my videos, but I do not use excessive foul/vulgar language or promote promiscuity in my work. The purpose of those particular videos are to discuss that characteristic of a zodiac sign with absolutely no intention or purpose of providing sexual gratification. Keep in mind, those videos were created way before we had to submit a rating for our own work, as the YouTube detector used to do it for us and decide whether is would have ads, limited ads, or none. Ever since we had to submit are own rating, I've started stating in many of my YouTube videos that I have to be careful of my words, so they are not misconstrued.

They pick and choose which videos can get monetized. There are many music videos with women and men showing their body in an explicit manor as well as explicit lyrics with ads on their videos, and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want to upset a celebrity and demonetize their work as it would cost YouTube a lot of money. Not that I am a celebrity, but it's not fair that Youtube can remove me from the partner program because I'm not a large channel or a famous person. It appears to be very discriminatory. Examples of videos I'm referring to: DJ Kalid "I'm the one", Jason Aldean "Burning it down", Kieth Urban "In my car", Zayn Malik "Pillow talk", and so much more.

Getting answers from YouTube chat help has proven pointless, at least to me. When seeking answers from the YouTube content creator chat, they told me they couldn't give me specific details on what I violated. They wouldn't tell me which videos because they can't give me "editorial advice", but they can deem what is editorially inappropriate without telling me nor give me a warning.

They can still run ads on my videos which they deem inappropriate and not pay me. I've had viewers tell me that they have seen ads on a few of my videos still. They can make money off of my content yet make me and other content creators feel immorally irresponsible. This is not right.

I'm still trying. I've reached out to YouTube through the only live person option they give me which is content creator help chat, but there is no way to appeal this, not in a way that I can easily find.

I need your help. I will still be doing a patreon for extra special content, however I do not want to charge my subscribers for my regular content as YouTube has been financially compensating me for my work as well as other content creators thus far without the need to do so.

Please share this petition. You can share it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other social media you use. If you don't have social media, you can just share it with 4 people then they can share it with 4 people, and who knows where this petition can go.

We can do this together. Maybe if enough of us can get YouTube's attention, I will get my monetization back and possibly get better help for other YouTubers. Much love and light to all of you who sign.
