Royal Agio Becomes Newest Member of ProCigar
Holland-based Royal Agio Cigars, best known for its machine-made Panter cigar brand, has joined ProCigar, the Dominican Republic’s association of companies dedicated to protecting and promoting the island’s cigar industry.
Established in 1904, the family-owned Royal Agio Cigars company also owns Balmoral, a premium cigar brand rolled by hand in its Agio Caribbean Tobacco Company factory, located in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic. Royal Agio opened the factory in 1990.
“For Agio, it has always been very important to be actively involved in the communities where our company conducts business,” said Boris Wintermans, CEO of Royal Agio Cigars. “We have had a presence here for nearly three decades now and feel very much like the Dominican Republic is our second home. As a member of ProCigar, we plan to actively engage our world-class Dominican cigar manufacturer neighbors and local industry suppliers to more directly contribute to helping advance the organization’s efforts.”
ProCigar was founded in 1992 and is hosting its 11th annual ProCigar festival this week.
