Another Walker Valley soccer Lady Mustang standout has found a collegiate home.
Macie Starr becomes the third member of the 2023 TSSAA State Championships participant, the first for the program, to sign on the dotted line, choosing to play for Cairn University.
A private Christian university in Langhorne Manor and Middletown Township, Pennsylvania, Cairn is a NCAA D-III member of the United East Conference.
The Highlanders went 7-6-4 this past season, including 5-2-2 in conference play before advancing to the UEC tournament championship game.
"Macie started as a center midfielder her freshmen, sophomore and junior years and always played a primary role in the team’s style of play and on field success," related Walker Valley head coach Austin Waddell.
"In her senior year, Macie moved the backline and contributed to the Lady Mustangs most successful season in program history as a defender."
Walker Valley went 16-4-1 thi past fall, claiming both the District 5 and Region 3 championship, as well as defeating Siegel in a TSSAA Sectional match to advance to the state Elite Eight.
Although primarily a defender, she did finish her prep career with 10 goals and four assists.
In her four years on the Lady Mustang pitch, Starr received many awards, including: 2020 Second Team All District; 2021 First Team All District, First Team All Region; 2022 First Team All District, First Team All Region; and 2023 First Team All District, and First Team All Region.
She joins 2023 teammates Baileigh Finch and Ana Martinez, who recently signed with Tennessee Wesleyan and Bryan College respectively.
Other Lady Mustangs still considering options are leading scorer Liz Lannon, a track standout who will purse that sport on the next level, plus goal keeper Madison Bichof, who is also a standout basketball player.
