Booth

Traditionally, JSA's major annual event, Matsuri, is held in the spring. Last academic year, the Executive Board decided to try something a little different: Matsuri during the fall semester, and a Carnival Booth during the spring semester!

Note: JSA will not be participating in Booth this upcoming 2023-24 year. However, there will still be opportunities to participate in Booth building for those interested!

About Our Booth

For Carnival 2023, JSA built a blitz booth in the form of a life-size Cat Bus from the Studio Ghibli film, “My Neighbor Totoro”. In the film, the young sister duo Satsuki and Mei move into a new house, where they discover many new magical faces such as sneaky soot sprites, a guardian of the forest named Totoro, and even a cat-shaped bus with a smile eerily similar to that of the Cheshire Cat. We aimed to capture the film's sense of adventure and curiosity and be a reminder of the beautiful worlds told through Japan's many incredibly animated films.

Thanks to the hardwork of all our members and the leadership of our two Booth Chairs, Hikari Harrison and Catherine Wang, our Booth won 1st Place in the Blitz Category, as well as the overall People's Choice Award at Carnival 2023!
