Review: The Corniche
Photos
Tell me: What’s this place all about? The Corniche, a five-mile seaside strip, is the emirate's best spot for family-friendly fun in the sun. The Corniche beach precinct is split into three sections—families, singles, and a public beach—and offers clean waters, children’s play equipment, bikes and karts for hire, and an Aqua Fun inflatable water park. The promenade and its offerings, available for everyone to use, are great for picnics, an ice-cream, or a rousing round of beach volleyball.
How do you feel being there?Fun and free-spirited. Expect plenty of splashing about, fitness fiends, and giggling children.
Do you need a guide involved? No guides here—just residents, tourists, and security guards.
Who comes here? The Corniche is a space for everyone to enjoy, and you'll find yourself among expatriates, Emirati locals, workers, families, and tourists. The mixed-use facility is where many seek fun and frivolity on the shores of the Arabian Gulf.
Did it meet expectations? This is definitely one of Abu Dhabi's best assets. Busiest in winter, it boasts plenty of parking and public transport.
So, then, what, or who, do you think it’s best for?The Corniche is open to everyone and, as such, offers everything from affordable street food, to beachside cafes, to great coffee. For a private experience away from prying eyes, the family and singles beaches are worth the $2.75 entry.
