Review: Wynand Fockink

First impression?
Step inside one of the oldest bars in Amsterdam. Wynand Fockink first opened back in 1679 as a combination tasting room, shop, and jenever distillery. The bar still maintains that 17th century look with tall windowpanes. Behind the bar, wooden shelves heave under the weight of jenever bottles lining the wall.

The proximity to Dam Square attracts a mix of weathered old locals and tourists.

How are the drinks?
Sample over 60 different jenevers and liqueuers.

Quick and efficient service during busy times, but willing to talk about the different aspects of jenever during slower periods.
