A prolific cold-hardy deciduous spreading shrub,  native to the Rocky Mountains up to 11,000 ft. elevation. Often seen along streams but actually is very drought tolerant. It has moderate growth 2ft. to 5ft, usually less and can be held at any height with yearly pruning.  Dark green leaves with profuse pink flowers through the summer followed by bright orange/red rose hips in fall that stay on branches through the winter. Deer resistant, easy to grow and low water requirements make this a notable addition to any garden!

Description

Colorado Hardy Plants are just that… hardy! We have sought out plant varieties that provide low maintenance, use little or no water once established, and are simply hardy enough to grow where others don’t.

We grow and ship our plants in 5″ or quart-size (in certain varieties) plastic containers. Knowing that the root system is the most important part of the plant we guarantee. our plants to have a large root system that fills the container.

CHP is a small family operation! We propagate, pot, water, prune, and personally package the pants you order from us. Most of our plants are grown from cuttings taken from the plants or seeds collected nearby the nursery at an elevation of 6300 ft. Our weather is extreme with temps below 0 are common in the winter and intense sunlight all summer long. We don’t grow plants in heated greenhouses, they have to be able to survive the elements!

Please note that deciduous plants ordered in the winter months and early spring will have been pruned a minimum of 30% compared to photos and may have no leaves

Our nursery is also licensed and inspected by the Colorado Department of Agriculture, Nursery Division and holds a current Japanese Beetle Certificate. We only ship USPS Priority Mail, so your plants are sure to arrive quickly. You’ll note in our feedback that our shipping process is a sight to behold. We love our customers so please don’t hesitate to reach out.

The Wood’s Roses arrived quickly and in great shape. We planted them in April with drip watering to get them going, by late summer they were about 18-24″ high and thriving. We are excited to see what they will do this year! (BTW, we had a few questions and Hart was always available to answer them- he was very helpful and followed through before and after the sale.) Highly recommended!

We ordered 3 Woods’ Roses for a native flower bed later in 2021. They arrived in good condition & packaged well. This spring they looked a little scraggly but since have mushroomed to the point that one has even put out a runner with a new plant (that we will transplant). They haven’t flowered yet, but the bushes look great. I plan on ordering some for my house.

Three (3) Rosa woodsii arrived in beautiful condition. Best packaging I’ve ever seen. Cannot wait to see this trio take off. Well done!

The two roses arrived in excellent condition and were well packaged. Hart was extremely helpful with our yard overhaul project. Cannot recommend enough!

I planted four of these in my native shade garden last Summer. They’ve been thriving and vigorously growing since the start of this Spring. No flowers this year, but hopefully next year they’ll finally have the energy to do so.
