A safe family beach with sand and pebbles. Favoured with Penzance locals as it is the most easily accessible stretch of sandy beach from town. There is also a good sized car park right on the beach making it an easy option.

The best section of Longrock beach is on the Marazion side of the car park. Backed by a wall which offers some shelter from the wind, it is also a little sandier above the tide line.

Swimming here is particularly safe as it takes a lot of walking to get into even waist deep water.

Longrock is one of the few year-round dog friendly beaches and as such can be a little on the "doggy" side! The entire beach from the west of the car park to Penzance has no restrictions. If this bothers you then head towards the Marazion end of the beach.

    Dogs friendly beach?

Dogs allowed all year but only to the Penzance side of the car park. To the left of the car park there is a seasonal ban, although dogs are permitted on the beach between 18:00 and 10:00 in the summer months.

I've spent a lot of time on Longrock beach over the years. I used to surf here when I was a kid, then I brought me kids here after school and now I come here as a special treat for the dog. I guess not having great expectations of Longrock means I am always pleasantly surprised on the upside! No, the backdrop isn't particularly pretty, but there are great views out to the Mount and across to Penzance. True , the sand here is a little coarse, but when the tide is out it is great for sandcastles and running around on. Would I recommend Longrock? Probably not to most people. But if you have a family and dog and are looking for somewhere to head after work in Penzance you could do a lot, lot worse!
