Kurt Russell has established himself as a family man since his role in the 1987 film, Overboard, where he starred alongside his real-life partner, Goldie Hawn—whom he’s now been with for over 40 years, despite never officially tying the knot. More recently, Kurt and Goldie joined forces for the family-favorite Netflix Christmas movie, The Christmas Chronicles, in which their oldest son, Oliver had a cameo as Dough Pierce, Teddy and Kate’s late father. Goldie and Oliver aren’t the only family members he’s starred alongside, though. In 2016, he worked with his daughter, Kate Hudson, on the action thriller Deepwater Horizon and he’s currently working with his youngest son, Wyatt Russell, in Apple TV's Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which premieres on Friday, November 17. Oliver Hudson, 47
Oliver Hudson—Goldie’s oldest son, whom she had with her ex, Bill Hudson—was born on September 7, 1976. Over the years, Oliver followed in his parents' footsteps, taking on television roles in Rules of Engagement, Nashville, Scream Queens, and The Cleaning Lady. Meanwhile, in 2023, he joined the And Just Like That cast as Che’s estranged husband, Lyle.
Off the screen, Oliver has a podcast with his sister, Kate, in which they explore “the sibling bond, family dynamics, the human mind, and more.” The podcast is called Sibling Revelry and can be streamed on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
Needless to say, his mom is endlessly proud of him. "He's the greatest, most handsome, amazing father, actor, comedian, human, son," Goldie gushed to PEOPLE. "I mean, he's such a gift. They're all gifts, all my children."
Kate Hudson, 44
Goldie and Bill welcomed Kate Hudson on April 19, 1979. Like her big brother Oliver, Kate took her parents’ lead and dove headfirst into Hollywood. When she was just 19 years old, she starred as Penny Lane in the 2000 film Almost Famous. She became an overnight sensation and even nabbed the Golden Globe for best supporting actress for her role in the movie. Three years later, she starred in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, cementing herself as a rom-com icon. Her career continued to blossom over the years, with lead roles in Fool's Gold (2008), Bride Wars (2009), Something Borrowed (2011), Glass Onion (2022), and A Little White Lie (2023).
Despite being from her mother’s previous marriage, Kate has endless love and respect for her stepdad, Kurt. In honor of his 70th birthday, Kate wrote an Instagram essay celebrating Kurt, whom she calls “Pa.” “I often wonder how different our life would have been if he never entered the picture. How different I would be,” she captioned a throwback photo of herself with Kurt, Goldie, and her siblings. “...He’s an original. One of kind. A powerful, intelligent, talented, loyal family man. He has taught me that we can all exist with immense love through our differences. And his dedication to my mother and their fight for love forever is as admirable as it gets…He gave me the gift of confidence, instilling a knowingness in me that I deserved everything I worked for and I knew that he'd always have my back in whatever challenges may lay ahead. When you have a dad who gives you permission to be confident, you live courageously.”
Kate also thinks that Kurt is her mom’s perfect match. "Mom is kinetic and she is a butterfly, and Pa likes his family and his home. But when they're together, it's so powerful," she told PEOPLE, revealing that they “complement each other so well.”
Boston Russell, 43
Kurt welcomed Boston Russel with ex-wife Season Hubley (whom he was married to from 1979 to 1983) on February 16, 1980. Kate can still recall how she felt when Kurt—and subsequently Boston—came into her life in the early ‘80s.
“For me, it felt like such a big moment because it was like, ‘My mom is madly in love with this guy,’” the Something Borrowed actress revealed on an episode of Sibling Revelry, the podcast she co-hosts with her brother Oliver. “For me, at the time, it was like, ‘Is this going to be my dad?’ And I was meeting his son [Boston] which meant, ‘Does this mean that this is my brother?’ It was a lot to handle at such a young age.”
Unlike the rest of the Russell-Hawn family, Boston steered away from a career in Hollywood after working as a production assistant on Kurt’s 1996 film, Executive Decision. He remains out of the spotlight, save for a few red-carpet appearances with Kurt and Goldie.
Wyatt Russell, 37
On July 10, 1986, Kurt and Goldie gave birth to their youngest and only child together, Wyatt Russell. Like his parents and siblings, he fell in love with acting at an early age, joining casts when he was just 17. Despite being a nepo baby, it wasn’t until his role in 22 Jump Street (2014), that Wyatt really made a name for himself. While he had a number of film and TV roles over the years, Wyatt cemented his stardom when he entered the Marvel Universe in Disney's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in 2021. Now, Wyatt’s taking a step into another iconic film universe—this time, alongside his dad. Wyatt and Kurt are starring in Apple TV’s new live-action MonsterVerse series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which is now available to stream, with new episodes launching weekly on Fridays through January 12, 2024.
