Construction at the new Ravensdale Park is in its final stretch. Phase one of the project was completed three years ago and brought a baseball field and a soccer field to the community.

Now, the Ravensdale Park Foundation is working on two more multipurpose fields, for a total of four turf-covered fields. They broke ground on phase two of the project in mid-May of this year and expect to complete the project by Dec. 1, weather permitting.

Schools and youth athletic clubs in the area already plan to use the fields for various athletic events in the next year. The fields will also be available for use by adult athletic leagues.

“For a community so short of athletic fields, this park offers something for everybody,” said Rob Nist, director of the Ravensdale Park Foundation. “Short of Marymoor Park in Redmond, there is no complex in King County that can host the variety of team sporting events that Ravensdale will be able to with these four fields.”

The entire project (including phase one and two), was estimated to cost $6 million. Due to permitting issues, code changes and adding Wi-Fi, Nist said they are about $300,000 short. The foundation is now relying on sponsors in the community, both individuals and businesses, to get the project completed by their goal date.
