Roberto Hernandez-Ramirez was a Co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Acciones y Valores de Mexico (Accival) in 1971. In 1991, Hernandez-Ramirez became Chairman of the Board of Banco Nacional de Mexico (Banamex), Mexico’s leading commercial bank, thus founding Grupo Financiero Banamex-Accival, or Banacci as the company was known in the financial
markets. Hernandez-Ramirez held the position of CEO and Chairman of the Board from 1997 until 2001.
Currently, Hernandez-Ramirez is a member of the Board of Grupo Financiero Banamex, Co-Chairman of Fomento Cultural and Fomento Social y Ecológico Banamex, member of the Board of Grupo Televisa, Associate of Universidad Iberoamericana, A.C. (U.I.A.C.), Chairman of the Board of Universidad Veracruzana, Honorary Chairman of the Museum of Arts of Veracruz, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Museum of Arts, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Children´s Hospital of México “Federico Gómez”, Vice Chairman of The Nature Conservancy, Member of the Board of World Monuments Fund, and Chairman of Banker´s Club. Hernandez-Ramirez was former Chairman of Universidad Iberoamericana, Member of the Board of Universidad de las Americas, Member of the Council for Mexico City´s Historic Downtown (Patronato del Centro Histórico), Member of the International Advisory Committee of the FED (Federal Reserve Bank of New York).
His professional interests took Hernandez-Ramirez to become Chairman of the Mexican Stock Exchange from 1974 to 1979 and Chairman of the Mexican Banking Association from 1993 to 1994. Simultaneously, he was a member of the Government Board of the Central Bank and Bancomext the Mexican Eximbank, as well as some of the most influential business organizations in Mexico.
Hernandez-Ramirez holds a bachelor degree in Business Administration from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.
